The journey of Beauty from Ashes began over eight years ago - it's personal, undeniably inspiring, and most importantly, a testament to the redeeming strength found in faith.
If you have purchased or are considering purchasing from Beauty from Ashes, I want you to know that you’re not just receiving an amazing product. You are embracing something that began as I tried to cope with my mother’s cancer diagnosis.
Like so many who hear the word “cancer,” life changed in an instant. We never expect it to happen to us or our loved ones - we always assume it will be someone else. When my mom shared her diagnosis, my focus became singular: How could I help her from hundreds of miles away? Was there something—anything—that could provide relief from the inevitable discomfort brought on by chemo and radiation treatments?
That search led me to a simple yet powerful discovery: unscented soap made with premium ingredients like olive oil and coconut oil had been known to soothe irritated skin. A seed was planted! But making soap required a leap of faith, so I prayed for guidance. Just weeks before, I had contemplated crafting charcoal soap and naming it Beauty from Ashes. Then one day, as I listened to the radio, I heard the lyrics: “He makes beauty from these ashes.” In that moment, I knew - this journey wasn’t just about my mom. It was about helping others battling cancer as well.
Through it all, I watched my mother lean on her faith while enduring the relentless battles of stage-four lung cancer. Surgery, infections, invasive procedures - she faced them all. Even when the cancer metastasized to her brain, she never stopped giving God credit for her strength. Her unwavering faith inspired not only me but everyone around her.
My mother, Sharon Nolan, encouraged me to trust in the Lord, believing that He would make a way for Beauty from Ashes to reach and help people. While our story didn’t unfold the way I had hoped, she defied the odds, living for four years instead of the three-to-six months doctors initially predicted.
Beauty from Ashes was born from heartbreak, but today it stands as a powerful symbol of my mother’s strength, the power of faith, and God’s redeeming love.
To honor her legacy, for every purchase of six bars of Sharon’s Caring Gentle Soap, one bar will be donated to a local cancer resource center or set aside for a cancer warrior in need. If you know someone fighting cancer, please reach out - we would love to help by offering up to two free bars.
Many Blessings,
The Miller Family
"To all who mourn in Zion, He will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for his own glory."
- Isaiah 61:3
When it was discovered that all natural soap could help support the skin of patients going through chemotherapy and radiation, the first batch of Sharon’s Caring Gentle Soap was made. In honor of Sharon’s memory, we have made it our mission to keep carrying on the healing by donating our Sharon’s Caring Gentle Soap. To date we have been fortunate to have donated almost 1000 bars of Sharon’s Caring Gentle Soap to those fighting cancer. If you know someone that has cancer, we will happily donate up to 2 bars of Sharon’s Caring Gentle Soap. All we request is for you to pay shipping and the bars will be our gift. After-all, sharing is caring.
